The Background

A man from humble beginnings he was born and brought up in a small town outside Julunder, Punjab and his family was mainly working class. But they always encouraged young Hans Raj Hans to hone his talent. The rich vivid folk music of rural India and the rustic sounds of his childhood have played a crucial role in his popularizing these tunes and bringing them mainstream.
