Hum
Sab Chor Hain
2007
This was a riotous play in Hindi with Rohini Hattangady. A rib tickling,
fun comedy about the rich and famous and their dark secrets!
Rohini Hattangady’s character plays a blackmailing journalist
extorting money from celebrities. Topical, loosely based on people and
characters that we are familiar with, Hum Sab Chor Hain is fun and satirical.
Comedy, wit, suspense and slice of life situations make Hum Sab Chor
Hain a“must see” play.
THE PLOT
Dr. Raj Shenoy, a famous doctor is to be awarded the prestigious Padma
Bhooshan by the Govt. of India. He is back in Mumbai from Pakistan after
performing heart surgery on the President of Pakistan. He is in love
with his year old secretary Mona. On his arrival into Mumbai, he is
shocked to see that there is a party arranged at his house, apparently
on his own instructions. The invitees include famous Music Director
Param Dharam, world renowned Swami Shakaracharya, and the top comedian
of television Johny Seater.
The doctor is surprised to have them as guests as he has only heard
of these celebrities, but has not known them personally. Mona (the Secretary)
says he had only informed her through a text message about the party.
Dr. Shenoy gets over his shock and joins in the celebrations. Just then
a lady from Bihar called Rabdidevi enters the Doctor’s house and
creates havoc. She has already made the watchmen runaway and the servant
has been drugged for next few hours.
Rabdidevi, after few minutes reveals that she is the famous Laxmi Mantri
– a journalist and television news channel owner who dishes out
dirt on dignitaries and high profile people.
The four key players are in a total mess and state of panic –
Dr Shenoy did perform the operation on the Pakistani President, but
he has also operated on an under world Don. His Padma Bhooshan is in
jeopardy if people find out about this.
Swamiji has murdered his own disciple to gain wealth.
The comedy king is actually Sonica Bedi’s older brother and connected
with the drug mafia and seeks roles in films and serials by threatening
producers.
Music director Param Dharam had given supari to Chota Vakil to eliminate
Gulfan Kumar, his music rival.
Laxmi Mantri demands 500 million USD to hush up their scandals. The
celebrities freak out and quake at this demand!
What happens after this? How do they resolve their problems? Do they
manage to silence Laxmi Mantri or does she wreak havoc with their lives?
Watch this laugh out loud comedy that also has elements of suspense
and thrills.
