Tathaastu: So Be It, the leading international spiritual and holistic lifestyle magazine, brought to India Divine Journey – a program focusing on Mantra, Meditation and Music. Led by spiritual healer H.H. Shri Chamunda Swamiji from USA and the legendary bhajan singer Shri Anup Jalota, the program was held in the city of Karnal in Karnal Haveli on Saturday, October 30, with Koutons co-sponsoring the event. The Tathaastu Group has been organizing the Divine Journey series for the past three years in the United States and Canada, and is now proud to bring it to India.

We live in stressful times. Economic, social and emotional worries affect our lives on a day-to-day basis. Divine Journey helps healing, and brings out the latent energy and strength in people through blissful music and motivational discourses. Our emphasis is on nurturing the mind with spiritual healing for a calmer and more peaceful life. An integral part of the Divine Journey is the Tathaastu ‘BE THE CHANGE’ Awards. Awarded to people in the community for their phenomenal achievements and devotion to public causes, these awards highlight the core fundamentals of “selfless giving” to society and its people. The program highlights two extraordinary people within this community who have made selfless contributions to the society. These were awarded to Dr. Bharti Sharma and IG V. Kamaraja, IPS at the Karnal event.

More than 1000 people thronged to the venue to witness and listen to the mesmerizing voice and deep word power of Shri Chamunda Swami and Shri Anup Jalota – the two were received with open arms – in fact the response had to be seen to be believed! H.H. Shri Chamunda Swamiji is the renowned New York-based spiritual healer to thousands, in the U.S., Canada and India. He is a strong believer in the cultivation of purity of thought, mind, and harnessing positive energy from the negative forces around us. He has a huge following in this part of the country – and just like other parts across the globe he shows how Mantra Healing can be used to transform and control your mind for a successful, satiated and peaceful life’s journey. A devout worshipper of Maa Kali, he has learned the immense powers of spirituality and has spent the last many years helping heal people.

Shri Anup Jalota needs no introduction. Popularly known as the “Bhajan Samrat,” he is an integral part of the strong Tathaastu board. He has been entertaining us for decades with his divine voice. But for the very first time in India his soulful renditions were weaved in with mantra healing by Chamunda Swamiji to create an evening of Mantra, Meditation and Music. We also had the privilege of having a host of dignitaries who graced the event and made it even more memorable. This included His Excellency Shri Jagannath Pahadia (Governor of Haryana) – who performed the auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, Capt. Award Recipient - DR. BHARTI SHARMA

Dr. Bharti Sharma, Professor & Dean, Department of Performing & Visual Arts, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana has been rendering social service of highest order for the last 25 years. A conscientious and hardworking individual with a keen craving for social service, she is the daughter of an illustrious father Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, the first Chief Minister of Haryana.  Her zeal and efforts in helping students from poor families has been highly praiseworthy. She has shown keen interest in serving people by organizing free medical and educational camps for the needy and neglected strata of the society.  Recognizing her untiring efforts in helping others, rendering distinguished service of exceptionally high order and her willingness to accept additional obligations of duty, the Chancellor of the University had conferred upon her the University Distinguished Service Certificate. Her contributions towards society are all distinct manifestation of her exquisite desire towards motivating youth towards their self-development.  She has displayed a strong persevering spirit, fine sense of teamwork and extraordinary sense of social responsibility which prompts us to conform upon her the prestigious ‘BE THE CHANGE’ award for her exemplary contribution in the social arena.

Award Recipient - IG V. KAMARAJA

During a rich and distinguished professional career spanning nearly two decades, IG V. Kamaraja has earned the respect from one and all. Born in Tamil Nadu, he joined Indian Police Service in 1987 and was allotted Haryana Cadre. Over the years he acquired valuable exposure and experience in varied fields other than gaining professional accolade, appreciation and medals at all levels in his quest to build an edifice of dedicated service to the Nation and the Society. His achievements include:

•He was conferred with Prime Minister’s Medal for Life Saving in recognition of saving the lives of 9 persons during the flash flood in Kaithal District of Haryana in the year 1993.
•He set up a Counseling Center for CISF personnel and their families, one of the first of its kind in the Force, which was recognized and awarded DG’s Disc by the Director General/CISF.•He was given the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services –2006 recognizing his contributions towards establishment of Highway Patrol Road Safety Division, Traffic Aid Centers, and educating the masses as well as teachers and children.
•He was responsible for creating the Highway Patrol & Road Safety Division, Haryana to improve the road safety of Haryana. During his tenure there was a significant drop in accidents, road defects, roadside offenses and improved parking amongst others. •All this was over and above him containing terrorism and unearthing large scams.
His name has been cited by the people of Haryana as the most deserving recipient of Tathaastu ‘BE THE CHANGE’ award.

Led by spiritual healer H.H. Dance theatre performances, enactment of the Great Epics, sword fights and a medley of scintillating acts performed by professional disabled artists on crutches and wheel chairs, this is the first of its kind in the history of dance theatre.
Divine Journey in Palampur was an evening filled with great energy, positive vibrations, and good thoughts that energized and motivated the audience to “BE THE CHANGE”.

Award Recipient - BBL Butail

Shri BBL Butail is a soft-spoken person. Yet he is a man made of steel with selfless contributions to society and numerous accomplishments over the years. He has been strongly instrumental in laying the Pragpur water pipes which provided immense relief to the local people during very trying times in 1925.

He was instrumental in providing free education to women for their empowerment. He has been one of IOD’s (Institute of Directors) distinguished fellows – IOD being a registered non-profit apex association of company directors committed to improving the competitiveness of Indian Business through development of its leadership. This Congress stalwart will also be contesting his seventh election from this constituency of Palampur – this seat has been successfully won by this candidate five times so far in assembly elections. Shri Brij Bihari Lal has been serving people from last three decades. The amount of development done in Palampur itself speaks of his dedication to work.

Award Recipient - Dr. Shivkumar

Dr. Shivkumar is a humble man deserving several accolades. As chairman of the Rotary Eye hospital, Palampur he has achieved a milestone in the health sector in the entire North India for having successfully completed 1 lakh eye operations. This is not his first award – his selfless service in this arena has bestowed upon him the 1995 award for providing free service and consultation in his Eye Care Clinics. We are proud to present our token of appreciation to a man who has selfless gone beyond the call of duty to ‘BE THE CHANGE’ in this world.

After having a stupendous start to the series in India (at Palampur and Karnal last month), the program was held in the city of Ludhiana at Club Nirvana (Life Hotel, Humbran Road) on Friday, December 3, 2010. The one word that would describe the event is hysteria! The kind of connect, affection and respect the Ludhiana audience showed towards the luminaries was something to be witnessed – they listened with rapt attention to every word and mantra spoken….they seemed to be transported to a different land with the music and meditation‐ almost as if in a trance! It was evident that the admiration between Ludhiana and Tathaastu group’s Divine Journey was mutual. Annu Kapoor played the perfect sutradhar to this particular event, and charmed the audience with his wit, knowledge and humour. To say that Tathaastu was received with open arms in the pure and fertile soil of Punjab is a sheer understatement! The Tathaastu Group has been organizing the Divine Journey series for the past three years in the United States and Canada, and now India.
